Two 120-ton condensers were split in half so that four 60-ton sections could be removed. The diamond wire cut through 27,000 inconel tubes, steel pipes, and steel baffle plates.
Diamond wire sawed over 1,500 tons of highly activated and contaminated concrete surrounding the reactor vessel cavity to support the decommissioning.
Bluegrass diamond wire cut the carbon steel reactor nozzle mock-up. The nozzle was 55” in diameter with a 28” annulus.
Bluegrass provided around-the-clock diamond wire cutting in support of SGRP. The entire 3’ thick roof sections, over four steam generators and enclosure walls, were diamond wire cut into 18, 15-ton sections and removed.
Bluegrass performed a technology demonstration of the Marcrist MSW300 Wall Concrete Shaver, mounted to a remotely operated Brokk 250, as part of the FIU-HCET technology assessment program. Six hundred feet of uncoated concrete walls, coated concrete ceilings and coated brick walls were removed at 1/4" depths.
The steam generators were to be removed and replaced through the containment dome. Bluegrass, using four robotic hammers around-the-clock, broke two large openings through the 3’ thick concrete with 3 layers of #18 rebar on 12” centers, while maintaining the integrity of the containment liner plate.
Diamond wire sawing of a section of the AUX Building Rail Road Bay Concrete Wall; 17'x3'7"x1'4" thick; Diamond wire sawed 12" off the top of existing man-way.
Bluegrass diamond wire cut a 250’ tall concrete ventilation stack located directly adjacent to the spent fuel storage area. Bluegrass cut the stack into ring sections of specified length, while working from a moveable, elevated platform. All cooling water was contained and recycled during the cutting process due to contamination potential.
Performed concrete and metal wire cutting for decommissioning.
Floor and Wall Shavers deployed by MOTA Corporation removed contaminated concrete to facilitate FSS operations during plant decommissioning.
Diamond wire sawed in support of the Reactor Vessel Head Segmentation project as well as segmenting reactor head for transport.
Bluegrass performed a technology demonstration of the Marcrist Diamond Floor Shaver and MWS300 Wall Shaver, at the Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant turbine building, as requested by the DOE and EPRI, and in conjunction with the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) and several nuclear utility companies. The floor and remote controlled surface decontamination shaving systems shaved concrete at 1/8” to 1/4“ depths, producing a completely smooth, finished surface.
Performend diamond wire sawing in support of decommissioning of Unit 1 for the demolition of the Sphere Enclosure Building.
